It’s an essential part of the back-to-school supply list — a backpack. But according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, from 2017 to 2019, an estimated annual average of 7,500 kids under 19 years old were treated in emergency rooms for injuries related to backpacks. Northwest Radiology Musculoskeletal Radiologist Dr. Catherine King talked with WTHR-TV about what injuries are caused by heavy and improperly-fitting backpacks and what you can do to prevent those injuries.

After helping feed 255 servings of food to the homeless at Wheeler Mission in 2021, Dr. Laura Dugan, a body imaging radiologist with Northwest Radiology, and her husband, Bob, told WTHR-TV they wanted to double that amount in 2022. They worked with their friend, Los Arroyos General Manager Leon Nicholson, along with other local restaurants, to make a food donation for more than 500 people.

During Women’s Health Month, women should be encouraged to prioritize their health by making sure to get routine checkups, including an annual mammogram. Emily Bolin, a mammography technologist with Northwest Radiology, talked with WISH-TV’s Lakyn McGee about reducing your risk of breast cancer, how to do a self-exam and the basics of getting a mammogram.

Northwest Radiology Network is proud to announce the opening of its new outpatient imaging center in Avon. Located at 120 Avon Marketplace St., Suite 110, in Avon, the imaging center offers both computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services. The imaging center is in the same building as Urology of Indiana and Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine.

“We are looking forward to providing imaging care to the growing community of Avon and surrounding areas,” said Northwest Radiology Executive Director and CFO Linda Wilgus, CPA, MBA.

The Avon outpatient imaging center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both physicians and patients have access to images and results through an online portal.

“We also offer patients transparent, upfront pricing,” Wilgus said. “Patients know the cost before their procedure.”

Millions of mammogram screenings were canceled, delayed or rescheduled across the country due to the pandemic.
